MEET YOUR COACH

Everything changed in 8th grade when I broke my femur playing basketball, which put the days of contact sports behind me. To 13-year-old Kyle, this was devastating. To present-day Kyle, this was the biggest hidden blessing because it led me to go all-in on golf. I am so grateful.

In high school, my love for the game grew. It became my obsession. I gradually improved and in my senior year I won the D1 Individual State Championship and I was nominated “Mr. Golf,” awarded to the best golfer in the state that season (2013).

I earned a golf scholarship to Eastern Michigan University, 25 minutes away from my home-town. I collected 1 win, 5 top 5’s, and 10 top 10’s in my career. I hold the third lowest single-season scoring average record in school history (72.1).

In 2017, I graduated from Eastern Michigan University and began pursuing my life-long dream of playing on the PGA Tour. Life on the mini tours can be a grind, but I loved (and still love) competing against some of the best players across the country. I have been fortunate to become friends and competitors with so many elite golfers on the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, Mackenzie Tour, and PGA Latin American Tour. While I have not yet competed on the PGA Tour, I still enjoy the pursuit of becoming the best golfer I can be, and I fully intend to compete on that level one day.

Some highlights from my professional golf career, thus far, include:

  • 5x winner, including the 2018 Toledo Open, 2020 Sault Ste. Marie Pro Invite, and 3x West Florida Tour.

  • 2x U.S. Open Sectional qualifier (2018 & 2022)

  • Lowest round (tournament): 64 (-8)

  • Lowest round (practice): 58 (-14)

Today, my intentions are to use the skills, knowledge and lessons I have learned from 16 years of competitive golf to help others conquer the challenges that golf presents. I believe it’s important for people learn from those that have the results they’re looking for, so I think my experience sets me apart from many coaches.

For years, my greatest challenge in golf was my short game. I’ve always been a great ball striker, but my short game was awful. I can relate to those of you that miss a green and have zero confidence. There is no worse feeling. I knew I needed to turn this weakness into a strength in order to compete at the highest level. So I took lessons from PGA Tour coaches, talked to fellow professionals that were short game wizards, and spent hours studying the best wedge players on earth to see what they did. With practice and a deeper understanding of proper technique, I went from a zero to a short game hero! Now, one of my greatest passions is helping others that are going through the same struggle I did around the greens.

In 2020, I began posting golf tip videos on Tiktok and Instagram (@kylerodes). The amount of life changing guidance I’ve received from certain people I follow inspired me to post videos to help others, too. My videos began reaching millions of people, which ignited my love for coaching.

Today, I live in Sarasota, Florida. I spend every day pursuing the best version of myself, on and off the course. A passion outside of golf is my fitness. I ran my first marathon in June 2022. The mental aspect of endurance running has absolutely improved my ability to quiet the mind and remain present on the golf course. I am grateful to my parents for introducing me to the game of golf. Without their love and support throughout my career, I would not be the professional I am today.
